Self-Medicating

“It’s weird stuff.”

Cerulean blue,
a capsule,
the ‘cure.’

“At low doses they
use it to treat chronic pain,”

Measured
in grams,
valued
for numbing.

“At ten times that dose
they use it to treat OCD.”

Compulsion,
consumption,
addiction,
submission.

“So, ‘Take ten of these
and wash your hands
once
in the morning?’”

How many
needed
to help you
feel better?

“Kind of. Yeah,
I know the way it works, though.”

Take one
as needed
to treat
… symptoms.

“One pill makes me sleepy,
ten must make you unconscious.”

Medicate,
don’t moderate
pain
only means
you’re alive.
